University College of Medical Sciences came into existence in the year of 1971 at New Delhi. College is popularly known as UCMS. UCMS established as a constituent college of Delhi University.  Since its inception it offers various Medical and Para-Medical courses. Admission Process

The admission is done on the basis of an Entrance Test (DPMT) score. 85% seats are for student's passing 12th class examination from a recognized school located in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and the rest 15% seats are filled-up through a separately conducted all-India competition

Eligibility Criteria

In order to get admission at University College of Medical Science, candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination / the Indian School Certificate Examination, which is equivalent to 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry (including Organic Chemistry) , Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English (Core or Elective) with minimum 50% aggregate marks in these subjects from any recognized schools conducting regular classes situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi only.

Which comprises of Anaesthesiology , Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biostatistics & Medical Informatics, Community Medicine, Dentistry, Dermatology, Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radiology and Surgery department.

Facilities and Infrastructure

University College of medical Sciences provides state-of-the-art facilities to its students within the campus. Various facilities provided by the institute include Lecture Theaters, Workshops, Library, Hostels, canteen facility etc.

Lecture Halls: University College of Medical Sciences facilitates 4 lecture halls well equipped with the audio-visual facility. Three of them has the capacity to provide seating for 180 members at a time and is provided with a side room and projector room. One lecture hall of UCMS facilitates the seating capacity for 90 members at a time.

Examination Hall: Examination Hall of UCMS is fully air Conditioned with a seating capacity of 170 members and it has a side room as well. Examination Hall of the college is also well equipped with most modern audio-visual facility and it can be used as a lecture hall as well.

Audio-Visual Facility: Audio Visual facility provided by the college comprises Audio amplifying system including audio mixers and speakers with cord and cordless mikes, Audio recording and playing facilities, Projection facilities, Active panels, interactive boards and electronic assessment facility, 16 mm movie projection facilities for film shows, V.C.R. facilities, Telemedicine facility for video-conferencing etc.

Library: The UCMS houses for a Central Library and 17 Departmental Libraries with a great volume of teaching and learning resources, which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programs of the college. The Central Library of the college is well equipped with latest amenities and resources in the form of books, journals, back volume of journals, theses, WHO publications, CD ROMs and internet services.

The Central Library of University College of Medical Science is situated in a separate building adjacent to the academic block of the college. It comprises of 2 floors. The organization is given in the table below:

First Floor

Librarian’s Office, Technical Section, Property Counter, Check Post,  Circulation Counter (Issue & Return), Computer Room for Students & Faculty Members, Current Periodical Section, Reference Book Section, Book Section, Thesis, WHO Publication, Reading Hall.

Second Floor

Back volumes of journals, Reading Hall for consulting back volumes of journals, Reading Room, Old Text Book section, Book Bank section and Medical Education Unit.

Animal House Facility: University College of Medical Sciences facilitates a central animal house, which serves to the requirements to augment the teaching, training and research facilities and to meet the growing demand for high quality laboratory animals.

Hostel Facility: UCMS provides a safe and comfort hostel facility to its students. There are 2 hostel block within the campus of college, one for male candidates and other one is for Female candidates. All the hostel rooms are well ventilated and equipped with all the basic amenities.

Laboratories: UCMS facilitates 4 state-of-the-art laboratories to its students, viz., Central Laboratory, Pathology Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory and Microbiology Laboratory.

Events at UCMS

Medicomasti - The youth festival at the Perfect Health Mela organized by the Heart Care Foundation of India and MTNL was organized and presented by the students. Ripple ’03, organized by Pramit, the Cultural Secretary, was held partly in the college campus and partly at Pragati Maidan where the fashion show and celebrity night were held. The choreography team of 2003 led by Ashish George won many prizes. It got the first prize in UCMS and LHMC, and the second prize at MAMC and Hindu College.

Ripple - Ripple 2004 was organized with great fervour entirely in the college campus under the leadership of Ashish George, the Cultural Secretary, 2004. During Ripple 2004, 3 celebrities performed, namely, “Euphoria” led by Dr. Palash Sen an ex-Ucite, Shibani Kashap and Silk Route Group. The other regular features were choreography, fashion show, western dance and music plays, and literary events like debates, extempore speech, etc. The festival was well attended by the students of the college and many students from the other medical colleges and Delhi University colleges also participated.
