Sri Krishnadevaraya University: An Overview

Sri Krishnadevaraya University is a public university located at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. The University is named after Sri Krishnadevaraya, a patron of learning and the arts.

The University is a subsidiary of the Postgraduate Centre of Sri Venkateswara University. In 1987, Sri Krishnadevaraya Institute of Management was started. The University became a full-fledged affiliating University in 1988.

The Postgraduate Centre at Kurnool was affiliated to Sri Krishnadevaraya University in 1993. The self- finance Srikrishnadevaraya University college of engineering&technology was started in 2006.

The campus comes to around 500 acres of land. The campus has a University Science Instrumentation Centre, a Computer Centre, a Health Centre, a Gymnasium, an Outdoor Stadium, an Auditorium and departments of studies, laboratories, hostels, and housing for the staff, teaching and non-teaching.

The University also has a center for distance education.

Facilities and Infrastructure

The Central library of the University has around 114000 books, 190 periodicals and 118 magazines. A separate section of the library helps students to prepare for the competitive examinations at various levels. To offer a range of services, INFLIBNET facility, is also available in the library.

The Health centre of the University caters to the needs of students, staff, non-teaching staff, and visiting faculty of the University.

University provides separate hostel facilities for men and women students. A total of five hostels are there for men and two hostels for women students. Working women have a separate hostel and a day care centre is also available.

The Computer centre provides computer education in the University both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The University College also offers E-Class Room facility, which has a capacity of 100 students. The hall features LCD Projector, 29” T.V. to watch the Mana T.V. Programmes telecast through KU Band.

The LAN facility of the University  connects the University departments (Academic & Administrative) with OFC and organizes all the communication of the activities through electronic document.

Sri Krishnadevaraya Institute of Academic Development caters to the academic needs of the students of the weaker sections. The institute organizes a series of coaching programmes for state-level and national-level examinations and free resource material are supplied to the enrolled students. The institute also has a hostel and a library attached to it.

Physical Education Facilites

The University College has a modern gymnasium equipped with sophisticated gymnastic and fitness gadgets like the multigym. The Gym has facilities for indoor games like shuttle badminton, table-tennis, chess, carroms, besides Weightlifting and malkhamb. The University also has a stadium to provide facilities for cricket, foot ball, and athletics. Ball badminton, basket ball, volley ball, and tennis courts are also available.
