Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar is the first private engineering college to be established in Orissa. It was set up way back in 1986 when the concept of private education was yet to be understood by people. Orissa Engineering College is the result of the vision of Shri Kamini Kanta Patnaik who laid the foundation of what is today one of the best technical institutes in the state. Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar is a part of Nabajyoti Charitable Trust’s endeavour to provide quality education. The college was started with an aim to provide quality technical education to a wider domain of illustrious students of the state of Orissa in particular and the nation in general.

Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar has been approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The college has received National Accreditation for three departments namely, Electronics & Telecommunications, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering by National Board of Accreditation.

The vision of the Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar is to create an institution which stands for quality technical education and the mission is to facilitate the increase in the knowledge base of students and faculty, to bring about all-round development in the personality of students and faculty, to promote research temperament, to create highly enthusiastic and successful Entrepreneurs.

Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar is located on the outskirts of the temple city of Orissa, Bhubaneswar. The institute is spread over a huge 58 acres of land away from the hustle - bustle of the city along the Bhubaneswar - Jatni road at a place called Nijigarh - Kurki.

In the Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar campus, There is a Central Library known as Dr. Sudhanshu Mohan Central Library. It is open on all working days from 8am to 8 pm and books are issued for home study from this section. The library has more than 25,000 books and adequate no. of adequate national and international journals. It also subscribes to DELNET through which students and faculty can get access to more than 200 libraries in India and abroad.

Students are provided with hostel facilities. In the Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar campus, There are separate hostels for both boys and girls. The Jagannath Boys’ Hostel in the campus can accommodate 350 students and has all necessary facilities. All the girls’ hostels are situated in the city. All hostels have well equipped fooding facilities and special care is taken of the hygiene of the hostels.

There is a separate R&D Center known as Hiranya Kumar Center for Research & Development. Some of Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar faculty have received projects and are actively involved in giving consultancy. The R&D Center has been set up to facilitate the faculty to go ahead with their research work and complete their projects.

The Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar has a Rajlaxmi Memorial Health Center which provides medical facilities to meet the needs of the students and staff pertaining to minor ailments. This dispensary has been constructed to take care not only of students’ health in college campus but it also looks after the medicals problems of the nearby villagers. At regular intervals, the college organizes medical camps in the campus as well as outside the campus. Ambulance facility is available.

In the Orissa Engineering College - OEC Bhubneshwar , There are many buses which help students in traveling between the college and the city. Students are picked up from different corners of the city based on their class timings. Student activity center.

The Students’ Activity Center includes a 3000 seater auditorium for holding different functions and cultural activities. This is currently under construction. The Center also has a badminton court, a basket ball court, table tennis court and a gymnasium.
