Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri has been established in 2004 to look after the activities of the University in the 5 districts of North Bengal (Part of West Bengal). The jurisdiction of the Regional Centre is 5 districts North Bengal i.e. Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur. Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri is located at Netaji More, Subhas Pally which is 2 km away from Tenzin Norgey Bus Stand (Main Bus Stand), 2 KM away from P.C. Mittal Bus Terminus, 14 km away from Bagdogra Airport and 6 KM away from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station.

Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri provides Diploma, Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and Doctoral program to the college students.
Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri follows the â€˜Credit Systemâ€™ for most of its programmes. Each credit in our system is equivalent to 30 hours of study comprising all learning activities (i.e. reading and comprehending the print material, listening to audio, watching video, attending counseling sessions at Study Centre, tele-conference and writing assignment responses). Thus, a 4 credit course involves 120 hours of study; an 8 credit course involves 240 hours of study and so on. This helps the learner to know the academic effort one has to put in, to successfully complete a particular course.
In case a learner wants to change his / her Region from Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri to any other Regional Centre, he / she should write an application mentioning his / her name, enrolment no., programme, new address, existing Study Centre Code, new Study Centre Code, name and Code of the new Regional Centre where he/she is willing to be shifted. The application should be addressed to the Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Siliguri. Normally, it takes 3 to 4 weeks to effect the change. The learner will be informed about the change from the Regional Centre.
Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri Library is the most resourceful information centre in the country in the field of Distance Education. The library has the largest collection of books, journals and other related materials in the field of Distance Education, throughout the country. The Library was established in 1986 in tune with the objectives of IGNOU.
Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU Siliguri has a wide network of study, work and programme centres through which it reaches out to its students located in different parts of the country. Academic counseling is an important instructional component of distance teaching/learning and consists of tutoring and general counseling. Work centres have been established for programmes with practical components, i.e. Laboratory Classes.
