Government Polytechnic - Hisar was inaugurated in 1992. It is presently being headed by Sh. N.K. Verma, Principal of the Institute. It is in the western part of Haryana and is well connected by national highway, road and railway network. It is about 170 Kms from Delhi and 230 Kms from Chandigarh. Hisar is connected by road and rail. There is regular bus service from Delhi and Chandigarh to Hisar. The Government Polytechnic - Hisar campus is four kms from bus terminal. Government Polytechnic - Hisar was established by Haryana Govt. with the assistance of World Bank in the year of 1992. The following sandwich pattern courses each of four years duration were initially offered. First admission was made in the year of 1992 by admitting 15 students each in the following branches.

Agroha, an historical holy place and having Maharaja Aggarsain Institute of Medical Research & Education is situated at 20 Km from Hisar on N.H-10.Government Polytechnic - Hisar is one of the most prestigious institute in Haryana.
The objective of Government Polytechnic - Hisar is To enhance the core competence of the faculty and support staff through IEP and STC. To achieve and sustain reputation in quality. To produce industry oriented manpower through IAP. To develop and implement Learning Materials as per the need of industry. To improve quality on continuous basis through feedback from industry and students. To motivate students through rewards, periodic personality development & entrepreneurship programmes. To share the modern and sophisticated equipment of Government Polytechnic - Hisar laboratories and workshops with the industry for their optimum use and providing the students an industrial exposure. To strengthen the institute and generate resources by conducting CEEP and undertaking testing and consultancy work. To upgrade and maintain laboratory facilities. To increase number of placements through campus interviews from reputed companies offering better package. To generate the feeling of more belongingness for the institute and enhance the ethical status.To reduce the failure and dropout rate.College provides Diploma program to the college students.
Government Polytechnic - Hisar is located at Delhi-Fazilka road, Hisar, Haryana. Government Polytechnic - Hisar provides library facility. The library is well classified and stocked with around fifty-five thousands volumes, 10 journals/magazines and all prominent newspapers are regularly subscribed to supplement the knowledge of the student. It has a approx. 300 sq. mtrs. of built-up area comprising of a reading room with sitting capacity of 100. Government Polytechnic - Hisar library has a Book Bank, which provide all the students with textbooks for almost all the subjects for complete course duration. A sum of Rs.15 laces (appr.) has been spent to purchase 9895 books for library. It includes reference books, technical books and magazines. The books are issued to the students and teachers.
Government Polytechnic - Hisar has a Hostel for Boys for housing nearly 200 students, providing all modern amenities. Sufficient numbers of residences including guesthouse are also available in the campus. Government Polytechnic - Hisar has one jeep mainly for arranging training & placement of the students (worth Rs.3.5 Lakhs), one 20 seater Swaraj Mazda bus (worth Rs.6 Lakhs appr.) and a 15 seater mini bus (worth Rs. 5 Lakhs) for the educational tours and industrial visits of students. A sum of Rs. 12 Lakhs (Approximate) has been spent to procure various furniture items including office tables, chairs, lab tables, workbenches, stools, computer tables, chairs, dual desk etc. to cater the needs of various offices, labs, Class rooms, drawing hall & hostel.
Government Polytechnic - Hisar has a practice of preparing a comprehensive annual program of all academic and extracurricular activities right in the beginning of the session. This includes Independence Day, Republic Day Flag Hoisting functions. Paper Reading Contest, Blood Donation Camp, Declamation Contest, Engineering Material/Model Exhibition and conducting of class tests, short educational tours etc. A wide variety of activities has been taken up in collaboration with industry to improve the quality of pass outs. The scope of the scheme is to promote industry-institute interaction in improving the quality of pass outs. All concerned have freedom to think of additional inputs from industry, relate them to functions of technical education system, ultimate outcomes and system improvement.
