Bhim Rao Ambedkar College was established in 1991 during the Birth centenary Year of Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar, it is a Constituent College of University of Delhi and is sponsored by Govt. of Delhi Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, co-educational Institution, it is maintaining its incessant momentum on the path of progress since its inception. With the dedicated staff, the College is a manifestation of his foresighted and motivational spirit. The Principal and staff have thus placed the college firmly on its pioneering tracks, preparing students for their fruitful and responsible future. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College also has mini auditorium, conference cum seminar hall. In a short span of time, we have been successfully grooming students to face the challenges of life in both academic and extra curricular fields.
Bhim Rao Ambedkar College began with the modest enrolment for three courses and nope the college is offering 11 courses. These courses are backed up by the competent and dedicated faculty members. In step with the new education policy of the Govt. emphasis is laid not just on academic iputs, but its practical application to the fast changing global scenario. Such a holistic approach synchronizes well with the current needs of the society as also the corporate and the business world so as to make education more effective and meaning.Bhim Rao Ambedkar College,achievements both in academics and sports have enabled us to be amongst the best in Delhi University Colleges.
Library is the heart of academic pursuits, directly so, as regards its research work, and indirectly as regards its teaching work, which derives its life from research work. Any academic institution remains incomplete without the backing of a well-stocked and updated library. Scientific research needs library as well as its laboratories, while for humanistic research, the library is both library and laboratory in one. Therefore, quality education & faculty is impossible without quality library. Committed to offer quality education, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College is having well-stocked Library. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College has an independent two storyed libary wing which has adequately spaced stacks, a good reading area and houses about 20,000 books. Besides this, we have current and previous issues of relevant nationally and internationally published journals. College's Library is fully computerized and also available on the internet.
Bhim Rao Ambedkar College has a very dynamic and active Students' Council. The council is elected by the students through common franchise as per the guidelines provided by the Honorable Supreme Court of India regarding Model Code of Conduct for DUSU elections. The elections are usually held during August-September each year. The committees of Staff Council appoints the Cultural and Sports' secretaries respectively. One seat of four posts- President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary- is reserved for female student.All office member hold office till 30 April of the ongoing session in normal courses, provided they do not suffer from any disqualification during the term of the office.
Bhim Rao Ambedkar College is also known to be the pioneer in starting many professional courses such as Business Economics, Social Work, Hindi Journalism and Mass Communication. Recently we started B.A. (Hons.) Applied Psychology, renovated the Auditorium and added a new Computer Lab. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College invites distinguished experts to speak on various issues to update the knowledge of students and motivate them to be confident in life and to be gender and disability friendly.
Apart from the Common Placement Cell inaugurated in 2005, each department providing professional degree have their separate placement division to tailor made the recruitment procedure as per their curriculum and requirements.
