The Year 2003 was the year when this Trust /Society by the name of AMBIKA PRASAD PANDEY EDUCATION & RESEACH FOUNDATION MOHALI was formed. The main objective in forming this society was to provide health education and health related facilities to all the needy individuals of our society. The other objective in forming this trust was to bring the youth of Punjab in main stream of nation for the overall development of this border state. For the better functioning of an educational institute so as tl:1e produce good citizens by providing them better education in a healthy and congeinal atmosphere, good team work of efficient and sincere management, teaching and non teaching staff, volunteers etc. is required. The purpose of Society is to achieve this.
The Trust /Society of Ambika College of Nursing aims : (i) To impart education of various types and fields for the overall betterment of the individuals and hence for welfare of the society. (ii) To impart training / education to the needy. The training/education in the form of various medical courses up to any level/para-medical courses/ Technical courses/Law courses/ Health Programmes/ Formal education of any standard, all or any of any time duration . (iii) The promotion of Health and family welfare programmes. (iv) To provide facilities for para-medical training including Medical technology, Pharmacy, Ayurvedic, Homoeopathy, Nursing, Health education and Health workers etc.,
Through Ambika College of Nursing, Trust / Society will endeavour : (a) To Establish Institutions, Schools, Colleges And Training Centres, Laboratories, Research Centres and Health clinics to Impart Education for the purposes reffered to above (b) To organise camps for various family welfare programmes, to provide various Health Services and medical Check-ups for various sections of the Society (c) To Establish MCH and immunisation Projects and Post Partum Centres (d) To Conduct intelligence / Pre-admission tests and to grant scholarship and stipends to the deserving candidates (e) To Print, publish and distribute literature, books, magazines, and newspapers to propagate the purposes for which the society stands for (g) To work for betterment of Medical Profession and promote the interests of individuals involved in medical service and education. (h) To Establish holiday camps for the students. (i) To Develop and arrange nutrition programmes for children. (j) To Establish vocational training programmes for the unemployed.
The hostel of Ambika College of Nursing rooms are fully equipped with adequate furniture and fixtures. Every room is provided with a chair, table and a cot. The facilities for common room, indoor games, guest room ,telephone etc are available in the hostel. The college hostel hums with cultural activities throughout the year.
Books are ships which pass through the vast seas of time". In Ambika College of Nursing, the library is a place for silent reading. Tearing pages or picture from a library book or journal is an unthinkable crime. Use them and preserve them properly, you should acquire the habit of intensive and absorbed reading and thinking. So that your training here would be fulfilled. Be busy, happy and upright. Absolute silence has to be observed in the library. To keep the books in circulation and make them available to all students the withdrawal of books will be governed by the following rules: Nursing Students of Ambika College of Nursing : 2 books at a time. These books must be renewed after one week and two weeks by the students respectively. When you borrow the books from the library check them thoroughly, after you have got them issued in your name then it is your responsibility to return them in proper form. Don't underline the pages or mark or tear them. Turned books will not be accepted by the Librarian and you will have to replace them. In case this card is lost, duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs. 50/-.
Ambika College of Nursing organized various activities to the studentsi in the campus.By Identification of good speakers. Folk songs, geet, gazal, monoacting, histrionics. Shabad/Bhajan. Identification of good writers (Paragraph writing and essay competition) Playing on musical instruments: Table, Harmonium, Sitar etc. Campus cleanliness drives. Quiz competition, general and based upon course subjects. Preparation of charts, model or posters on specific themes, like; AIDS, Drug addiction, smoking, Drinking etc. Rangoii, flower arrangement and salad preparation competitions. The talent will be identified by lectures associated with the house. Various inter house competitions will be organized by the various committees such as literary and cultural.To give better Educational exposure, students will be encouraged to participate in other institutions.
Ambika College of Nursing offers various courses to the student since different years: 1. B. Sc. Nursing (Basic) - since 2006 2. B. Sc. Nursing (Post basic- Proposed) - since 2008 3. General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M.) - since 2004 4. Auxillary Nurse Midwifery (A.N.M.) - Proposed 5. M. Sc. Nursing - Proposed . After completing this cource candidates can work as a staff nurse in a hospital, public health nurse in community, school health nurse occupational health nurse. Passed out candidates of B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) can work as a staff nurse in a public health, hospital nurse in community not only in India but also in abroad, to work anywhere in Government and Private Hospitals, Armed Forces, Various Medical Establishments and even in WHO. In addition, the candidate is also eligible to work as a clinical instructor, demonstrator in various nursing colleges. They can also applying to study for M.Sc. Nursing.
G.N.M. passed out candidates have the opportunity to work as a Public Health Nurse, bed side staff nurse, School Health Nurse, Occupational Health Nurse in anywhere. They are competent to work anywhere in Government and Private Hospitals, Armed Forces, Various Medical Establishments and even in WHO. Further if with to continue their education, then the prospects are there to proceed with Nursing (Basic) & B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic).
Passed out candidates of A.N.M can work as multipurpose health workers under various programmes carried out by Government as well as private organisations.
